Animalkind is not yet available to play. However, we will be holding closed playtests and you will have opportunities to join them. We will announce these tests on this site, on our social media, and in our Discord. You can also check our Steam page (Animalkind) to see if there is a sign-up available.
Animalkind will be available in early access on PCs through Steam. Eventually Animalkind will release on various consoles including Nintendo Switch as well as on iOS and Google Play.
The minimum specs for our the closed Alpha version of Animalkind are as follows:
But we will keep these up-to-date throughout development.
Currently you will be able to choose between a dog, a cat, and a raccoon. But we hope to bring many more types of animals into the game as playable characters!
The simplest solution to this problem is to close the game, re-open it, and try to load back into the world. There is a known issue that can occur after a player completes the introductory world that prevents them from loading into a regular world. We're looking into it! But for now, if you run into this issue, just close the game and re-open it.
There will be several Alphas for Animalkind leading up to launch with Alpha 1 kicking off on September 18, 2024 and continuing periodically (more details to be announced). Beginning with the first Alpha, this is an early build of the game that will be available to players. This is an early iteration of Animalkind for players to dive into the game itself and get comfy within this world as they explore crafting, building, and a shared experience that inspires creativity and a soothing atmosphere.
Alpha 1 is a closed playtest experience, meaning only a select number of players will be allowed in due to this being an online game. Since this is Animalkind’s first time out in the wild, we wanted to make sure that the servers are running smoothly for an early build of the game. Because of this, we decided to limit the number of players for this first Alpha so we could ensure that everything is working the way it should for the best possible experience as players dive in for the first time. Player feedback is incredibly important this early on in the development cycle, so we welcome you to be a part of the journey. Share your thoughts, we’re listening! There will be open playtests in the future, stay tuned for more details on that!
General Alpha length will vary depending on the goals for those early access players regarding feedback. For Alpha 1, the total duration is one week. The community team will have more information on future playtest periods at a later date.
Players that run into any issues within the game are encouraged to submit a ticket via our Discord channel linked above. Instructions can be found in the #welcome channel for how to easily and quickly put in a support ticket. Please keep in mind that our team is small, so please be patient as we review each ticket with the Uncommon Games dev teams.
For emergencies, there is the option to contact a mod in Discord, which is reserved for critical issues such as inability to access the Alpha, the game itself breaking in a significant way that could block further progress, or community safety concerns.
Players can also tag us on all socials, though the ticket option is the most effective method of reporting any in-game issues.
We want players to be excited about Animalkind and for creators to be excited to share with their own communities. For Alpha 1, we request no streaming of the game since this is a more restrained version of the game for feedback purposes. The plan is for this request to be listed for immediate plans following Alpha 1, we will keep interested creators posted on when that changes.
